Our Ethos
Vision, Mission, Values and Motto
Our Vision
To create a noble, systematic Buddhist school that nurtures future wholesome leaders with a selfless purpose to light up the world.
Our Mission
Like a hospital serves the body, PBS serves the mind. A doctor treats illness; a noble teacher guides students away from illness and sorrow through the preventative medicine of wisdom, academic excellence and upright moral conduct.
Our Values
A person who is wise and morally upright, with right effort, compassion, loving-kindness, selfless joy and patient understanding, becomes resilient and of benefit to all beings.
Our Purpose
To create the most respected systematic Western Buddhist school by nurturing Dhamma Warriors who light up the world.
Enlightenment through Morality, Discipline and Wisdom.
Three pillars
| Pillar | Pāli | Cultivated through |
|---|---|---|
| Morality | sīla | Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood |
| Discipline | samādhi | Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, Right Mastery (concentration) |
| Wisdom | paññā | Right Understanding, Right Thinking |
Welcoming all families
PBS welcomes students of all religions and none. We teach the Dhamma as universal truths to be understood through reasoning, reflection and personal discernment, not through conversion or ritual.
