Character and results, together
PBS teaches the NSW curriculum from Kindergarten to Year 12, with English language support for international students. In Years 11 and 12, our Master Curriculum takes a different approach to the Higher School Certificate (HSC).
The Master Curriculum
| Most schools | PBS Master Curriculum | |
|---|---|---|
| Subjects studied at once | 6 | 3 |
| Hours per subject per week | 3 | 9 |
| HSC exams in Year 11 | 0 | 3 |
| HSC exams in Year 12 | 6 | 3 |
| Stage 6 starts | Year 11, Term 1 | Year 10, Term 4 |
Mastery
Deeper focus on fewer subjects at a time.
Experience
Students sit real HSC exams in Year 11, so Year 12 is not their first time.
Wellbeing
Exams are spread over two years, leaving time for leadership and activities.
Mentoring
Students in their second HSC year guide those in their first.
Results
HSC top 100 school (rank 95, 2022); in 2022, 43% of PBS students achieved an ATAR above 95 (Better Education); NAPLAN 26th in NSW (2023). [add latest year's results]
A clear pathway to Australian universities
Students who finish Year 12 in NSW receive an ATAR and can apply to Australian universities, with guidance from PBS teachers. Students who move from an Australian school to a public university are not counted in that university's international student allocation, which helps the transition. Entry depends on each student's results and choices.
